The underdogs dominated in UFC Orlando. Will we see a similar performance here with UFC 282? UFC 282 is the last pay-per-view event for 2022 and the lineup is locked and loaded with stars.
Tons of money to be made and I might even gamble on each fight. Odds are very high that I will. However, I'll give you my favorite bets for 282. The miscellaneous bets will be tweeted out as the night goes on.
Jan Blachowicz (+200) vs. Magomed Ankalaev (-240)
Jan Blachowicz vs Magomed Ankalaev is a massive mismatch. Blachowicz likely would have lost to Aleksandar Rakic if Rakic did not tear with ACL mid-fight. Now Jan Blachowicz finds himself fighting for the interim belt. On the other hand, Ankalaev is on a 9 fight win streak, rolling through the division, showing no signs of weakness, and seeming like an unstoppable force. You see where this is headed.
We can keep the main event breakdown short and sweet. Plain and simple, Blachowicz should not be back in this title position just yet. Take Magomed Ankalaev. Ankalaev is a great addition to any and every parlay you make.
Bet: Magomed Ankalaev (-240)
Darren Till (+130) vs. Dricus Du Plessis (-150)
I've been advising you to bet on Dricus Du Plessis since he debuted in 2020. Yes, I wrote a similar opening line for when Du Plessis fought Brad Tavares in the UFC 276 Betting Guide. Hit back then so might as well say it again.
We have been consistently winning on Dricus Du Plessis, so it breaks my heart for what I am about to say. Darren Till is the better bet. After his last fight with Derek Brunson, Till took a little hiatus. He soon found himself in Sweden, teaming up with Khamzat Chimaev.
So for over a year, Darren Till has been putting in work with one of the most dominant up and coming prospects we have seen in years. How could you bet against that? Keep in mind, at one point in time Darren Till was one of the most feared prospects in the middleweight division. Now you got a chance to bet on Till as an underdog in his UFC return. Give me Darren Till all day, sorry Du Plessis.
Bet: Darren Till (+130)
Bryce Mitchell (+115) vs. Ilia Topuria (-135)
Someone's 0 has got to go as two undefeated, highly respected prospects finally square off. Bryce Mitchell has really evolved full circle with his overall game. He surprised a handful of doubters with his last performance against Edson Barboza.
With all that said, Ilia Topuria is the fighter to back, and (-135) is a great price. Without a doubt, Topuria is the better striker. Bryce's best chance to win is to get Topuria to the ground. Granted, we have already seen Topuria in a similar situation against Ryan Hall. Topuria knew Hall's game plan was to get the fight to the ground and his takedown defense held strong.
Not saying Bryce Mitchell is comparable to Ryan Hall but the game plan remains the same. Keep the fight standing, where Mitchell's goal is to get it on the ground. Topuria will also be the bigger opponent in this match-up, so the takedowns for Mitchell may not come as easy as you think.
Fun fact, Ilia Topuria against Ryan Hall was our 100th career win.
Bet: Ilia Topuria (-135)
Jairzinho Rozenstruik (-170) vs. Chris Daukaus (+145)
For better or worse, Jairzinho Rozenstruik has found himself in plenty of Betting Guides throughout the years. You already know he has found himself in another Betting Guide against Chris Daukaus.
Crazy to think that the Daukaus brothers were the hottest thing 11 months ago. Now, no one seems to bat an eye. Hand up, I made the rookie mistake of advising you to bet on Kyle Daukaus last week. Don't worry, I have the perfect solution to recoup those losses. Double down on Rozenstruik.
Chris Daukaus is not big enough for the heavyweight division, if he wants to be effective he needs to cut down to light heavyweight. Rozenstruik at (-170) is already a steal, but you already know Rozenstruik by knockout is the bet to place. Could end up being a sneaky 3-5 unit play.
Bets: Jairzinho Rozenstruik (-170)
Rozenstruik wins by TKO/KO (-120)
