UFC 266: Volkanovski vs. Ortega Betting Guide
Betting Guide for UFC 266 Volkanovski vs Ortega
7-0 in September, ride the wave.
Robbie Lawler (-120) vs. Nick Diaz (+100)
After hinting at a return over the past 6 years Nick Diaz is finally back for a rematch against Robbie Lawler. The two fought back in 2004 on UFC 47. Diaz knocked Lawler out in the second round.
Lawler has stayed active in the UFC since Diaz stepped away. Unfortunately, he is not the same ruthless Robbie Lawler we all know and love. Over his past 5 fights, he is just 1-4.
If anyone is going to come back from years off and be in shape it'll be Diaz. The brothers live and die for mixed martial arts. Plus he enters this fight with confidence, seeing he already knocked Lawler out.
Getting Nick Diaz at plus money to me seems like a no-brainer bet.
Bet: Nick Diaz (+100)
Marlon Moraes (+210) vs. Merab Dvalishvili (-260)
Where do you even start on Merab Dvalishvili, the guy is a machine. He's violent, controlling, and has an unbelievable gas tank. Vegas is giving me a break and letting the odds do most of the talking.
Marlon Moraes has not looked the same since Henry Cejudo knocked him out in 2018. Since then, Moraes is 1-2, and his only win comes from a split decision against José Aldo. Moraes just has not looked sharp recently.
Dvalishvili is on a warpath and unfortunately for Marlon Moraes, he is standing in the way.
Bet: Merab Dvalishvili (-260)
Dan Hooker (-145) vs. Nasrat Haqparast (+125)
Before you bet on Dan Hooker vs. Nasrat Haqparast you need to account for all the outside factors that have recently taken place. New Zealand is in lockdown due to the pandemic and Hooker struggled to get a visa. Thankfully he managed to get one just in time.
Now on a much more unfortunate note, Nasrat Haqparast's mother has just recently passed away. Haqparast being the savage he is, said he still wants to fight Hooker on UFC 266. As of the 21st, I learned now Haqparast is struggling to get his passport. Which could lead to issues making weight.
Pulling for Haqparast, especially knowing all the outside factors that have affected him in this camp, it's hard not to root for him.
If we are talking money, the bet to place would be on Dan Hooker. Hooker has had two unfortunate losses in a row against champion caliber talent. Haqparast isn't on that level just yet.
Bet: Dan Hooker (-145)
Shamil Abdurakhimov (+170) vs. Chris Daukaus (-200)
Shamil Abdurakhimov vs. Chris Daukaus has been canceled and rescheduled twice now. Let's hope the third time is the charm
Chris Daukaus has knocked out every one of his opponents since entering the UFC. Shamil Abdurakhimov is 39 years old, his last fight was a knock out loss to Curtis Blaydes almost two years ago.
Daukaus has fought 3 times in less than in a year. Knocking each one of those opponents out in the first round. Daukaus by knock out is the best bet. If you want to get a little spicy, maybe Daukaus by first round knock out. No matter what you bet on, just bet on Chris Daukaus. Yup, that's the entire breakdown.
Bets: Chris Daukaus (-200)
Chris Daukaus by TKO/KO (+120)
Uros Medic (-125) vs. Jalin Turner (+105)
Uros Medic looked near perfect in his last fight on UFC 259. Now the prospect gets another great opportunity to display his skill set on UFC 266. Expected the odds to be more in the favor of Medic just based on his last fight. When you dig into the match up, you see why they are fairly close.
Jalin Turner holds a massive 6-inch reach advantage over Medic. Plus Turner has been in the UFC since 2018. However, the pure violent fashion in which Medic entered the UFC in is too compelling to ignore.
Medic has finished every professional fight of his career. Just going to play it safe and bet Uros Medic straight.
Bet: Uros Medic (-120)
Nick Maximov (-110) vs. Karl Roberson (-110)
Ladies and gentlemen, the top prospect from the Diaz Academy is finally making his UFC debut. You may recognize his name from Dana White's Contender Series, where he went up to heavyweight to fight his opponent. Now, Maximov is making his debut against Karl Roberson at middleweight.
Roberson has gone 4-4 since he signed to the UFC in 2017. Each of Roberson's losses have been via submission. Mentioned Maximov is fighting out of the Diaz Academy, right? Since Maximov's fight on the contender series, the prospect has not had any professional fights. Instead fought in four jujitsu matches.
Once Maximov can get the fight to the ground it should be over. It's pretty blatant Roberson struggles on the ground. Bet Nick Maximov straight.
Bet: Nick Maximov (-110)
7-0 in September, figured I would give you 7 bets. After all, UFC 266 is international fight week. Might as well make the betting guide special.
